Aside from Christmas and birthdays, Mother's Day is that one day that moms look forward to every year. It's a special celebration for all the mother figures, and one way to mark this special occasion is getting them a Mother's Day cake. 

While some have their usual favorites, others also want variety, looking for that cake that will make their moms or wives feel happy, special, and loved. 

That's why we asked the mom members of the Smart Parenting Village Facebook group what type of cake they wish to receive on Mother's Day. Some were specific with what they prefer, others just hope to be remembered on the day.

1. Money cake

Every year, cash is the top gift that moms want to receive on Mother's Day, based on Smart Parenting's survey. That's why it's a given that a money cake is the best Mother's Day cake idea or design too! 

A money cake is one that looks like a normal cake on the outside, but has a topper that can be pulled to reveal a roll of money bills. The amount is up to you, but the bigger the better!

2. A cake and bouquet in one

Moms at the Smart Parenting Village said they are content with receiving any cake, but a cake with flowers will truly make them feel special and loved.

Maria's Kitchen Manila is a home-based bakeshop known for making custom cakes and the best NY cheesecakes using premium ingredients. You can order this 7x3 inch vanilla cake with yema filling and Swiss meringue buttercream for only Php 1,650. It comes with dried gypsophila (also known as baby's breath) flowers for that touch of sophistication. You may also request for a cake with edible flowers!

It also offers a Mother's Day dessert box, a sampler of three (3) vanilla cupcakes with Swiss meringue buttercream, six (6) macarons with white chocolate ganache, and four (4) mini donuts covered with white chocolate. 3. A heart-shaped cake unlike any you've ever tasted before

Nothing screams love for mom than a heart-shaped cake that's filled with only good stuff.

Leonisa's Kitchen, which is known for making the best cream puffs in the metro, has limited edition cakes for Mother's Day. One of their bestsellers is Liana's 8-layer choco mousse cake. For Mother's Day, they are offering it in heart-shaped form.

This cake is made with layers of milk, dark and white Belgian chocolate mousse, moist chocolate sponge and crunchy crepe. Topped with fresh edible flowers, and white and ruby chocolate pearls, it will definitely tickle the palate with different flavors and textures. This beauty only costs Php 1,750.

4. A cake inspired by a movie

Some moms at the Smart Parenting Village specifically wished for this particular cake: the Matilda Cake. 

The Matilda Cake is inspired by the classic film Matilda. It's three layers of moist chocolate cake with pure chocolate ganache in between. It's drenched in their secret Bruce fudge and topped with crunchy chocolate bits. It's chocolate on chocolate on chocolate on chocolate, perfect for moms with a sweet tooth!

5. A 'Hindi masyado matamis' cake

If your mom or wife is one who doesn't fancy desserts that are too sweet, the Mango Krema by Ysabelle's is perfect for you.

Mango Krema is made with light and airy chiffon cake, covered with home-made cream and adorned with fresh, sweet mangoes. It’s popularly known as Japanese shortcake, but Ysabelle’s used export-quality Guimaras mangoes that are native in the Philippines. Isn't it perfect for the weather too?

6. Sushi cake

Instead of a traditional cake, a lot of moms at the Smart Parenting Village also voted to have a sushi cake this year.
