Parents Are Resourceful! Just Take A Look At These At-Home Halloween Parties

Halloween is right around the corner and having to stay at home shouldn't stop the kids from celebrating fun, spooky night! There are no rules when it comes to celebrating Halloween and yes, you can still knock on doors for trick or treat candies!

On our Facebook group, Smart Parenting Village, we asked moms and dads what are the activities they did for Halloween last 2020 and how they plan to celebrate it again.

Trick or treat

“Last year, we had a mini Halloween party at home with just family members lang (my two kids, us adults, and one kid cousin nila and her mom). Nag-‘trick or treat’ sila by knocking on every door of our house (main door, bedroom doors, backdoor, garage door, even bathroom door!), where one family member was waiting behind to give out candies and treats. May awarding ceremony din kasi the kids put effort into wearing costumes the whole day. We plan to do this again this year.” -Mommy Nath

 

“Last year, nag-costume lang sila sa bahay. Pinapunta rin po ang lola at lola at sila ang nagbigay ng treats sa mga apo bukod sa aming mag-asawa. This year, maybe the same set up basta po ay safe pa rin gawin. At dahil tatlo na sila, PJ Masks na po ang costume nila.” -Mommy Annie

 

 

Costume party

“We had a mini costume party with the family at home last year. We had salo-salo tapos namigay ng sweets sa mga bata. This year, though, I don't think we can do it again at home. So me and my mommy friends are putting up an online zoom party for our kids tapos kanya-kanyang prepare na lang ng treats sa kids. Kanya-kanya din ng toka sa storytelling, games and trivias.” -Mommy Jhem

"Yearly, very excited po talaga ako to bring my daughter sa office for trick or treat. She won best costume two years in a row. But, due to the pandemic, last year, I've decided to make a DIY costume for my daughter instead. Presenting our little Holly (Ben and Holly). Then, we just joined a free Halloween online event ng Pinkfong, I think." -Mommy RJ

“Last year, ganito lang…pa-cute lang! This year naman mas marami ng Facebook events, sasali na lang sila sa mga ganun.” -Mommy Kathleen

Dress-up photoshoot

“Pinagsuot lang namin si baby ng Dracula costume then DIY photoshoot sa bahay. This year, DIY photoshoot lang ulit. Thinking of joining a virtual halloween party too.” -Mommy Laarnie

“Celebrated Halloween last year wearing terno jumpsuits for my kids. Bagong panganak ako last year kaya ayan, photoshoot lang. But the kids really enjoyed wearing their costumes dahil sleepwear na rin kasi at the same time. This year, since mag birthday din ‘yung 2nd child ko, advance celebration na rin ng Halloween. May konting party kami ng family members lang.” -Mommy Grazelle 

Games and activities

“6 kids in total. This year, games pa rin po using glow in the dark sticks at ang decors ay minecraft inspired - Japanese lantern na may DIY design ng mobs/characters ng minecraft na may battery operated candle sa loob para mag match sa glow in the dark namin na games.” -Mommy Rhodora

 

 

“Last year, we did DIY cookie designing c/o Sugar Monsters PH and made DIY loot bags with a Harry Potter Themed Halloween.” -Mommy Eds

 

 

 

“This was last year and we also joined them by putting on our best Halloween costumes. I asked my brother and sister-in-law to be the judge for Best in Costume and Best in Acting through virtual. They also gave us prizes and wired it through our Gcash. It was a great experience.

“My aunt also prepared food and I organized simple parlor games. We gave candies to the kids after our simple party. It was a great escape and a happy short break during the start of module legends of the kids. Maybe this year, we will add some twist in our yearly Halloween party!” -Mommy Irish

“We registered our daughter sa online Halloween ng Madison Events. She was princess Jasmine. Nagpadala din ang Madison ng pang decorate ng house. Then bumili na lang kami ni hubby ng snacks and cake. This year, no plans na. Ayaw na ng daughter namin. Corny na raw because she’s a “lady” na raw.” -Mommy Donna

 “Nagbake lang ako ng Halloween cake para ma-feel naman ni bunso na Halloween pero noong wala pang pandemic every year sinasali ko sila sa Halloween costume event tapos may parada sa buong street namin.” -Mommy Ria

“Sa bahay lang kami last year at in-invite ang bestfriend ng anak ko na kapitbahay namin sa Halloween celebration sa bahay. Ang theme ng family costume namin ay 'Mahalaga May Panlasa: Quarantine Food Trends 2020.'

 

Minimalist cake, ube cheese pandesal at sushi bake ang DIY costumes namin. Handmade bats ng anak kong 4 years old ‘yung bat decorations. I also baked Halloween themed mini cakes. May storytelling ng glow-in-the-dark Halloween books, Pin the Spider on the Web and Find the Scary Eyes on colored sand games. May candy treats din syempre.” -Mommy Joselle
