Cong TV amused his millions of followers in a recent vlog where he shared how hard it is to get his one-year-old son, Zeus Emmanuel, better known as Kidlat, to brush his teeth.
The vlog idea stemmed from the 32-year-old's realization about the importance of dental health. "Ito 'yung biggest regret ko nung lumalaki ako, at 'yun ay ang hindi pagsunod sa magulang ko at partikular na sa hindi pagtu-toothbrush," Cong revealed.
Cong went on to share a 'TMI' fact about his poor oral hygiene as a child, which led to several cavities. Now as a dad, he said he doesn't want his son to go through the same thing. So he tries—the keyword is tries—to make sure Kidlat develops good oral hygiene habits early on. But like most kids, getting Kidlat to brush his teeth takes a bit of effort.
The vlogger, known for his humor and pranks, came up with a very on-brand solution to motivate his son to brush his teeth. He dressed up in a gorilla costume, since it's his son's favorite animal, but the plan backfired. Instead of being entertained, Kidlat burst into tears at the sight of his dad in the suit.
Now what did the trick was Cong dressing up as Marvel's Spider-Man, Kidlat's favorite superhero. The toddler was stunned at first, but eventually agreed to brush his teeth, thanks to the wacky 'Spider-Man'.
Netizens were delighted by Cong's efforts to convince Kidlat and by the child's reactions to his silly tricks. Some parents also shared that they could relate to the vlogger's struggle.
Fun ways to encourage children to brush their teeth
You don't have to be as extra as Cong to motivate your kid to brush their teeth, though it's pretty entertaining to watch. There are still plenty of other creative ways to encourage them.
Tooth brushing can become a fun activity when your child uses toothpaste with colorful stripes or sparkles, paired with a brush in their favorite color. You can also offer small rewards for consistent brushing or make it a fun family activity by brushing together.
