How Andrew Schimmer Shows His Children How Much He Loves Their Late Mom

On Valentine's day, Andrew Schimmer and his children with late partner Jorhomy Rovero spent their day at the cemetery. 

With heart-shaped balloons and flowers, they remembered their dear loved one, who passed away on December 20, 2022, after a long hospitalization that started with a severe asthma attack. She was 34.

"Nilagyan namin ng (balloons) para syempre kahit papaano maramdaman natin siya sa Valentine's day, kahit papaano kasama pa rin natin siya. Malaking bagay yun sa akin. Parati pa rin siyang may bilang sa activity natin," the actor said in a video posted on their Facebook page on February 14.

Andrew said that their children Andrea and Xander, particularly his 9-year-old son, love to spend their afternoons at the Marilao Memorial Garden in Bulacan.

"Bilin ko sa kanila, just make your mother proud."

"Ginawa nang playground nitong bunso namin itong puntod ng mommy niya. Gustong-gusto niya kasi talagang naglalagi dito. Almost every day pagkatapos ng mga normal activities nilang mag-ate," Andrew said.

"They're doing really, really good. Bilin ko sa kanila, just make your mother proud, promise ko 'yan sa kanya, na habang pinapanood mo kami mommy, you will be proud of us," he added. 

"Lagi ko siyang naiisip at naaalala, so little by little, every day, dahan-dahan babalik tayo doon sa ating normal state pero wag lang nating madaliin."

As for his valentine's gift to his late wife, Andrew had Jorhomy's portrait tattooed on his arm. In a separate post, he wrote, "Lagi na ulit kita makikita kahit [saan] ako andun." His son approved of the tattoo, saying it looks like his mom.

"Wag natin masyado pwersahin ang mga bagay-bagay, although time heals everything, wala namang nakakalusot kay time eh. Sooner or later, promise ko sa inyo yan, magbaback to normal tayo, dahan-dahan lang, para di rin siya masyado maging malungkot. Alam ko naman nakikita niya tayo palagi, ayoko rin naman na nakikita na all the time na hindi ako malungkot," Andrew explained.

He added he's not rushing things, and they are taking their time to recover from their loved one's demise, "Lagi ko siyang naiisip at naaalala, so little by little, every day, dahan-dahan babalik tayo doon sa ating normal state pero 'wag lang nating madaliin. For now, lagi muna natin siyang kasama as much as they can. for as much as possible, kasama pa rin siya sa activity. Meron siyang bilang."

Nevertheless, Andrew said Xander is asking him to teach him kickboxing, to which he happily obliged. He uploaded videos of their sessions, and Xander seems to be enjoying it a lot.

"Nagpapaturo kasi siya sa akin mag-kickbox, sabi niya sa akin, "Dad, I want to learn how to kickbox. I think it would make my tummy a lot smaller," Andrew said. He said, he makes sure his son finishes his modules first before their session.

Andrew's unconditional and selfless love for his partner is a perfect example that Xander and Andrea could follow as they grow older.
