Saab and Jim: 'All the Things We Used to Fight About Are So Petty Now'The young couple share how their relationship has changed since becoming parents.by Kitty Elicay .
Jim Bacarro and Saab Magalona weren’t in a hurry to have kids when they got married on January 24, 2015. “In our first year of marriage, I wanted to make sure everything was in good working condition just in case we were to have a baby,” Saab explains to SmartParenting.com.ph. “According to my doctor, everything was good, but we were still cautious because we wanted to enjoy each other’s company before having children.”
In their second year of marriage, the couple decided to let “whatever happen.” And on September 2017, the two announced they were having twins. “It was definitely a surprise when we found out, but we weren’t exactly avoiding a pregnancy either,” Saab shares.
In a previous interview with Smart Parenting, Saab described her pregnancy as “double the excitement and double the anxiety.” She spoke about how she was taking extra care because a pregnancy is already considered high risk when one is carrying twins or multiples.
Then the unthinkable happened. On March 2018, Saab announced she lost one of the twins, a baby girl named Luna, that February. But her boy, Pancho, was fighting to survive. His will to live gave Saab and Jim the strength to keep going. (Saab shares more of her motherhood journey in our "Mom We Love" feature here.)ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW

As she recalled her introduction to motherhood, Saab said it was Jim who kept it together while she and Pancho were in the hospital.
“He knew that it was a fragile time for me,” Saab shares. “I found out later on that he was really not okay, but when he would enter the [hospital] rom, he would just focus on the good news and cheer me up. That really kept me going. It was very nice to have a good partner.”
The couple is enjoying their new roles as mom and dad. Saab, who is completely hands-on with Pancho, shares that Jim has a fantastic technique when it comes to soothing and calming their son: he sings The Cure’s Just Like Heaven to Pancho, which we witnessed during our shoot! “It’s one of Pancho’s favorites! We also listen to a lot of The Beatles,” Saab shares.
