In the tranquil town of Lipa, Batangas, Sofia Andres’ Batangas home stands as a testament not just to her hard work, but also her deep love for her family.
In a recent YouTube video uploaded on Karen Davila’s channel, Sofia gave a tour of her newly-built home, sharing how she has poured her heart into creating a sanctuary for her family, especially for her mom, blending Scandinavian and Wabi-Sabi design elements to craft a space that’s warm and serene.
"I built this home for my mom," Sofia shares, her eyes sparkling with pride. Her mom’s influence in the house is very evident with Sofia saying the “maaliwalas” vibe and spacious kitchen is in accordance with her mom’s wishes. Sofia describes her relationship with her mom as “para kaming best friends talaga.” Expressing admiration and respect to her mom, Sofia shares, “she really went all the way to talaga to support me.”
Sofia opens up about her childhood
But Sofia's journey to this point has not been without its challenges. Openly discussing her turbulent upbringing, the actress reveals how her family's separation shaped her perspective on relationships and marriage. Reminiscing from her childhood, Sofia shares, “Mayroon kasi times na we are in the same roof but hindi sila nag-uusap (Sofia’s mom and dad) and we don’t wanna intervene.” “Noong bata kami nahirapan kami kasi siyempre, away. Eh it’s not healthy nasa isang bahay lang kami.” It was this moment that her mom decided to be firm and even Sofia and her siblings advised their mom that if it’s a cause of stress to her mom, it’s best to let go.
Why Sofia is not yet choosing to get married
Karen asked Sofia straightforwardly if this turbulent experience in her family played a role in why she’s not yet married to her partner Daniel Miranda.
"It's not the time yet," an emotional Sofia answered. "In God's time, I'll be ready. Kasi married or hindi, you will never know eh. Kung kayo ba talaga. Kasi may mga married nga na naghihiwalay pa rin eh, mayroon namang hindi married na nagtatagal naman.” She admits the concept of marriage can be “scary.”
Sofia further explains, “we don’t have to rush it eh. ‘Yung foundation muna. Respect importante.” Despite the obstacles, Sofia has found solace and strength in her partner and their daughter, Zoe. “Wala po akong reklamo. He's very loving, very supportive," she says. For Sofia, establishing respect is prerogative before tying the knot but it’s not to say that it’s not in their plans, but they're working on it as a couple. Sofia also said that her relationship with Daniel is very healthy, adding that “I will not stay kung hindi maganda ‘yung relationship.”
