'DepEd TV' Will Conduct Test Airing Of Lessons On Local Channels Starting August 11

The Department of Education (DepEd) is gearing up for the new school year by testing its TV and radio lectures before the official opening of classes on August 24, 2020.

On Sunday, August 9, the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration (OUA) released a memo for the test airing of DepEd TV and radio episodes. It will be broadcasted daily from August 11 to 21 (except weekends) via local channels IBC-13 and Solar Learning.

According to the memo, the channels will showcase sample episodes or online lessons, as well as advocacy and information materials that will mimic commercial advertisements. This may be reconsidered during the actual broadcast.

If you can’t catch it on the channels mentioned above, the materials will be available for download at https://bit.ly/DepEdVALectures and will be published at the DepEd Commons website starting today, August 10. These will be in compressed formats for easy viewing on laptops, tablets, and cellphones.

According to the DepEd memo, ready-to-print self-learning modules (SLMs) and electronic self-learning modules (e-SLMs) will also be published in DepEd Commons, covering the first week of classes from August 24 to 28. The combination of the materials will provide “a more accurate and concrete feel of ground situation, readiness, and acceptability of blended learning.”
