Since choosing to living a quieter life near sand and sea, Andi Eigenmann hoped her 8-year-old daughter Ellie would see the value of living with less and enjoy a life of gratitude. On May 21, 2019, the soon-to-be mom of two could not help but share her joy on Instagram at witnessing how Ellie is growing up.
"One of my goals as a parent is to raise my kids to have a positive outlook in life," Andi shared on Instagram, sounding thankful she has managed to do something right by her daughter. "She knows to always look at the brighter side of everything — to accept that this world is not perfect, and we have no control over it. But what we do have control over is our attitude and how we choose to look at life."

Andi shared how she treasured a sunny afternoon when they went on a trip to an island for a picnic. Ellie did not want to go, but Andi managed to persuade her to come. "I told her it would be fun."
Along with Andi's boyfriend, pro surfer Philmar Alipayo and a few family friends, they arrived on the island on low tide, which meant they had to walk a good 10 minutes from the boat to their spot on the island. "Ellie was not loving the sharp and painful walk at all," Andi said.

"It was scorching hot that I actually got scared of the sun [and began] applying sunscreen on both our bodies repeatedly. I then figured maybe we shouldn't have come at all," the preggo mom admitted.
But things for the soon-to-be family of four began looking up. Andi and Ellie had a great view of watching Philmar and the other longboard surfers ride the waves. Ellie even hit a milestone — she ate with her hands for the first time.
"There was also a rock pool under a shade with so many little fish and all the corals she [first] saw in this book on underwater life. She got excited, pointing them all out," Andi shared.
And Ellie "couldn't care less" about the internet. "She was too busy exploring the island, picking up trash with her friends, and just allowing her curiosity to take over," Andi continued. "Without my help, she was discovering and learning new things about the environment we live in, and she was loving being around nature."

Apart from teaching Ellie the joys of a simple life, Andi is also raising Ellie to love her body and be comfortable in her own skin. She hopes Ellie will learn how to respect herself and other people.
"Life on the island has definitely served not just as her giant playground, but a room for learning and discovering new things about the world we live in and about herself as well," Andi wrote on Instagram. She has no regrets uprooting Ellie from the city and moving her closer to nature.
