Bettinna Carlos, whose own panganay Gummy is 11 years old, has given birth to her and her husband Mikki Eduardo's first child together.
Mikki made the announcement on Instagram, posted December 13, 2022. He shared a photo of their baby girl with this caption: "Dati palangoy langoy ka lang. Ngayon, andito ka na. Lakas! Welcome to this world, Amina!"
The following day, the Mikki shared another snap of Baby Amina as congratulatory messages continued to pour in. Not a few of their well-wishers commented on the father-and-daughter resemblance, with one of them telling the new dad, "She got your eyes."
Back in June, Bettinna announced her pregnancy six months after suffering a miscarriage (read here). "Sobrang unexpected ng pregnancy namin na 'to," she said on YouTube, in her own A Blessing Channel by Bettinna Carlos-Eduardo.
Since then, the actress-turned-content creator and her entrepreneur better half have been giving update on the pregnancy in their respective social media accounts.
In Bettinna's December 2 post, she talked about attending a workshop by Tanya Velasco, a respectful parenting coach, with Mikki and Gummy.
She narrated what her La Union-based family experienced in the workshop: "In our recent trip to Manila to finally do baby stuff, one to-do that our family really made time for is a 1on1 session on Respectful Beginnings with @teachertanyavelasco since Mikki will be a first time parent to a newborn, Gummy too a big sissy and I know I’d really need a refresher course."
She went on sharing had this realization: "Little did I know that we were in for more than just changing diapers and burping!"
She explained, "Learned so much (and was confronted with much ‘mistakes’ too as a first time parent to Gummy. Buti na lang napakabuti at punong puno ng grasya ng Panginoon). It's not too late to be a better parent to both Mina and Gummy."
She went on sharing a "few of the many things that stuck" during their session:
1. The importance of respecting and trusting your infant from day 1.
"You do this by talking to them every chance you get, and even asking for permission. Ultimo pagpapalitan ng diaper! And trusting them for example: when they are 'full.' I realized that as a parent to Gummy I felt I knew her more than she knows herself. 'Hindi ka pa busog. Finish that.'
"Ganon! Sorry, anak! I was only learning how to be a parent when I was parenting you-I really confessed this to Gummy days after the session.
2. How important routines and schedules are to building trust and security lalo na since we’re talking about needs here.
"Can you earn your baby’s trust that you will give their needs when they need them?Babies learn to wait through diaper changing hehe! Didn’t know this is possible!"
3. Free movement paves for brain development.
"Time to rethink mittens and swaddles, moms!"
4. The brain develops along a more mature brain.
"We are to help our kids figure out their emotions but also be careful not to help too much!"
5. The importance of consistent care.
"Same person doing the same task for 3 years!"
