Every couple has their own way of handling their finances, and there is no right or wrong way. They just have to find what works best for their family.
Marian Rivera was announced as a celebrity endorser of Waltermart, held last October 8, 2019, at WMall in Pasay City. At the press conference, the actress was asked if her husband, actor-producer Dingdong Dantes, gives her his full salary. After all, she disclosed that she is in charge of the family budget and is the one who shops for groceries.
"Gusto niyo bang malaman yung totoo? Binibigay niya sa akin yung sweldo niya," Marian replied, as shown in a video shared by Team Dantes's fan group, The Dongyanatics, on Instagram. But the mom of two then clarified that her husband still has his own money, just as she has her own.
"Hindi naman porket binibigay niya sa akin lahat, eh, wala siya," Marian said. "Syempre meron naman siya, meron ako, meron kami para sa pamilya," the mom of two explained. Setting aside funds for each of their personal use is part of the family budget, she added, and it cannot be omitted.
Marian is also very organized when it comes to handling the family finances. When the actress receives Dingdong's salary, she already sets aside money for all their expenses and, of course, savings, too. The mom of two already has a system in place. "May listahan ako e. Maarte talaga kasi ako," Marian admitted. "Nakasulat talaga doon yung budget namin sa bahay kuryente, tubig, sa helper, lahat," she shared.
The actress earned praise for her honest answer and budgeting skills. "She is an inspiration to other housewives," one comment on the Instagram video read. "Yan ang housewife! Organized!" read another comment. "She's such a great role model!" another read.
"Napaka swerte talaga ni Dong kay Yan, marunong mag-budget ng pera at marunong sa buhay!" read another comment. Other people chimed in that Marian is also lucky to have a husband who trusts her with his salary.
It's no secret that money is one of the most common issues married couples fight about. Marian and Dingdong had already settled what works for them. Many agree that family comes first when it comes to expenses, but it's only to give both parents a little allowance to spend for themselves.
