Geneva Cruz Clears Up Why She Cried During TV Guesting With KC Montero

Actress-singer Geneva Cruz became emotional when she was reunited with her ex-partner of ten years, KC Montero. They recently appeared on the It's Showtime segment 'EXpecially For You,' where a player tries their luck at finding new love with the help of their ex.

Geneva couldn't hold back her emotions during the segment's opening as old photos of the ex-couple appeared on the screen. "Kasi may pictures doon," she explained, adding with a laugh that what really made her tear up was seeing KC still had hair in the throwback photos.

Still, it was a fun moment for the ex-couple to be on stage together, openly talking about their past relationship, with smiles on their faces. The single mom said, "I'm actually happy na ginawa namin 'to. Medyo nagdalawang isip din ako nung umiyak na ako, sabi ko, 'Eto na nga. Iyakin talaga.'"

She continued, "But I'm really happy na magkasama kami ngayon because it's been a while." Before their appearance on the noontime show, it had been three years since they last saw each other. Geneva also acknowledged that KC had been a significant part of her past.

Geneva Cruz and KC Montero's History

Before marrying KC, Geneva was first married to Paco Arespacochaga, with whom she has a son, Heaven.

Geneva's annulment with Paco was still ongoing when she met KC at a club in Quezon City. The two soon got married and were together for a decade before parting ways.

When the hosts asked the reason that led to the end of their 10-year marriage, the actress said that it was being apart from each other.

"Looking back, we were better together physically than when we were apart. Dati kasi laging magkasama kami… Hindi kami naghihiwalay. Nagkaroon ng problem talaga when I started working here again. We lived in the States; he followed me, and nagkaroon ng problem na nung physically, nagkaroon ng distance," Geneva said.

Despite their bittersweet ending, Geneva said she was grateful that KC and his family loved her and her son wholeheartedly when they were together. Now that she's ready for a new love, she thanked KC for teaching her "unconditional love" back then.

For KC's part, he also expressed his gratitude for having the chance to share a part of his life with Geneva. "Maraming salamat sa panahon natin. All of the time and the years that we spent together. I'm a firm believer that your past creates your future. And feeling ko, without the time that we had together, wala akong Stephanie, wala akong Wyatt. Ikaw din, walang London," he said, referring to their respective kids. London is Geneva's daughter with former partner Lee Paulsen.

The actor is now happily married to beauty queen Stephanie Does. They welcomed their baby, Wyatt, one year after their wedding in 2019.

Geneva's Clarification Post on Threads

On May 5, Geneva clarified via Instagram Threads that she no longer has romantic feelings for her ex-husband and now sees him as family. Days after reuniting on the noontime show's segment, she felt the need to explain further why she got emotional during their appearance.

"People assume that because I cried on national TV, I still have romantic feelings for my ex. While it’s true that I do love him, it's more like the love I have for my sisters and best friends—a familial love," she said.

"It's been 16 long years since we were together, and I'm happy with where we are now. I genuinely hope he and his partner have another child and live happily ever after. I mean it," she wrote.
