IKEA has issued a product recall of BLÅVINGAD, a multicolor fishing game. On its website, it explains that safety is a "top priority" of IKEA and because it has come to the Swedish brand's attention that certain parts of the said toy can become lose and pose a risk to children, it has decided to recall the product entirely.
"Safety is a top priority for IKEA and therefore we are taking precautionary measures and recalling, due to a potential choking hazard, it explains on its website.
IKEA states that it follows strict product testing when developing items. In the case of the BLÅVINGAD, it recognized that the small rivets that come lose pose a risk to young children.
"IKEA develops its products using a rigorous risk assessment and testing program, to make sure that the products live up to all applicable laws and standards in the markets where they are sold.

It adds, "Despite of this, it has come to our attention that small rivets on the toy can come loose, which results in a potential choking hazard, especially for smaller children. Therefore, BLÅVINGAD fishing game multicolor is being recalled.
No receipt is required when getting a refund of the said toy.
"BLÅVINGAD fishing game multicolor can be returned to any IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required.
The BLÅVINGAD fishing game multicolor lets children mimic the activity of fishing using magnets. According to IKEA, the BLÅVINGAD collection "is designed to spark play and curiosity about the world’s largest habitat, from tots to tweens. Recycled materials, including those made from ocean-bound plastic (OBP), are used where possible.
IKEA has also apologized in the same statement. "IKEA apologizes for any inconvenience this recall may cause."
