Iza Calzado on Postpartum body struggles
Just like other new moms, Iza acknowledges the complexities of dealing with postpartum body changes, this, despite her commitment to loving her own body through any stage. She shares, “One of the most challenging things about a new mother’s life is dealing with our postpartum body. I have had to constantly remind myself of how worthy and enough I am at this stage of my life. Even with my #thebodyrevolution journey, it’s still tough to have my body change. In my case, change again and again.”
Iza’s transparency on how tough it is to see and accept body changes after a pregnancy sheds light on the mental and emotional challenges that moms face, coming to terms with societal expectations and personal insecurities tied to their physical bodies.
"...Reminded myself that no matter my size, I was and will always be enough. I am whole." - Iza Calzado
“I was and will always be enough”
Iza included in her post several photos of herself all glammed up for events and balls–which she admits is challenging for her. She says, “Sharing photos of some of the most mentally challenging times–ball season!”
She then goes to say how she has “coped” with such events: “In the past, any time there were projects or events such as these, I would go on a very strict diet, even do a lot of shortcuts like juicing or fasting etc, and really kill myself at the gym just to lose weight.”
However, this time is different. Iza admits, “This time around, I chose to just continue eating healthy and clocking in my usual workout hours (adjusted to my motherhood realities) and reminded myself that no matter my size, I was and will always be enough. I am whole.”
“My body was not made merely for aesthetic reasons”
Finally, Iza expressed her thanks to everyone who helped her in accepting her postpartum body: “Grateful for everyone who helped make me feel more than enough for all my work-related events. You guys have no idea how your creativity, generosity, and support helped this mama through this year.”
Iza also expressed gratefulness for her child, saying that she made her realize one very important thing: “Most grateful for my child, Deia Amihan, for making me realize that my body was made not merely for aesthetic reasons but to fulfill a purpose so big, no weighing scale or tape measure can begin to comprehend. This is my body’s true beauty and power.”
Other celebrities who have shared their thoughts on their postpartum bodies include Andi Eigenmann, Lara Quigaman, Isabelle Daza, and Rochelle Pangilinan.
