Baby Alas and 'Lola' Liezl Meeting is Kylie Padilla's Dream Come True

No matter how old a person gets, her mother's presence will always be the most comforting thing. Kylie Padilla summed up her sentiments perfectly in a post when she shared photos of her mom Liezl Sicangco finally meeting and spending time with her grandson, Alas Joaquin.

"I don’t take for granted how lucky I am to still have my mom with me," the actress wrote. "Seeing her with Alas is like feeling safe. In her hands, I know he will be alright, and that’s all I could ever want," Kylie added. "Love you, ma. Thank you for today," she wrote. 

Kylie also had nothing but praises for her mom's cooking, and said she'd learn "para ready na talaga for another milestone in my adult life," referring to her upcoming wedding to actor Aljur Abrenica which she said is happening "sooner than you think."

Kylie had always wanted her mom to be with her since she began her motherhood journey. "I'm pretty sure she'll make plans, baka surprise, di ko alam. Sana. That would be a dream come true," a pregnant Kylie said in an interview with Smartparenting.com.ph in May 2017. Now, with Liezl in town, Kylie, Aljur, and Alas have been spending time with her. The former actress also joined Aljur's family in Anilao, Batangas to celebrate his parents' 29th anniversary. 

It took about a year for Liezl, who is based in Australia with Kylie's two younger siblings, Zhen-Zhen and Ali, to personally meet her second grandchild. Her eldest daughter Queenie Padilla, who is based in Pakistan with husband Usman Mir, gave birth to daughter Mustahsina Mikailah Mir just days before Kylie welcomed her son. 

Kylie relayed in the same interview that when she found out she was pregnant, the first person she called was her mom. And even before Kylie was able to speak a word because she had started to cry, Liezl already knew what the phone call was about. Knowing the ropes of showbiz, the mom of four advised her daughter not to do anything [that could] harm the baby.

While Kylie had her dad Robin Padilla here in the country with her, it took some time for the latter to warm up to the idea that his second daughter was having a child out of wedlock. But everything is falling into place now, partly thanks to her Tita Mariel Padilla, Robin's wife, who stepped to the plate as her stepmom and was also instrumental to Robin and Alas' first meeting, and subsequently, the pamamanhikan.  

Kylie is more than a year into her motherhood journey. Even though she and her mom are physically separated by oceans, their bond has only strengthened now that Kylie is a mom herself. And, who knows? Maybe Liezl will be back for Kylie and Aljur's wedding, where Kylie envisioned Alas to be the ring bearer.

"I have this fantasy kasi—and when I have a fantasy I work toward making it happen—na dala niya yung rings," the 25-year old actress then revealed to Smartparenting.com.ph. Well, their Little Prince can walk on his own now, so that picture-perfect wedding can't be that far behind.
