A 27-year-old man has been arrested in Elk Grove, California, for abducting a 10-year-old girl he met online through the gaming platform Roblox and the messaging app Discord.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office stated that the child was reported missing by her family on April 13, 2025 after she was last seen the previous evening at home.

27-Year-Old Man Arrested for Abducting Child in California
Investigators discovered that the girl had been communicating with Matthew Macatuno Naval, a Filipino-American man from Elk Grove, through Roblox and Discord. They believe the two were in the Elk Grove area, over 250 miles from the girl's home in Taft, California.
Authorities in Elk Grove were notified and located the child Sunday afternoon in Naval's car at a strip mall. The young victim told police that once she realized she was being kidnapped and driven three hours away, she was too afraid to speak up. She initially thought they were going to a park near her home, but it wasn't until much later that she realized they were far away.
Naval was arrested and booked in Sacramento County before being transferred to Kern County, where he is being held with bail set at $250,000.
In a jailhouse interview, the 27-year-old claimed that the child appeared older and allegedly told him she was 18. He denied any sexual actions or conversations.
The Kern County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning about the importance of internet safety. It urges parents to monitor their children's electronic usage and be aware of who they are communicating with online. Many apps and games have messaging capabilities and present risks similar to those of social media platforms.
