Actress and comedian Melai Cantiveros-Francisco is the newest honorary ambassador for Korea Family Tourism in the Philippines. She's the first Filipino celebrity to receive this honor.

Melai and her family recently flew to Seoul to attend the special appointment ceremony on May 21. Grateful for the opportunity, the celebrity mom posted on Instagram to thank her family's supporters, whom she refers to as 'Kamsami'.
She uploaded a carousel of photos from the event and wrote, "Kamsahamnidaaa mga Kamsamiii, kung 'di dahil sa inyo, 'di kami mapipili na maging ambassador and ambassadress ng KTO as Korean Tourism Ambassador Family."

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) appointed Melai to be the ambassador for Korea Family Tourism starting May 21 this year to May 20, 2025.
According to KTO Manila, "Melai will be the celebrity representative for the Korea Tourism Organization’s family tourism promotional campaigns, programs, and events in the Philippines."
It seems like the Magandang Buhay host will be even more booked and busy this year. KTO says that Melai's ambassador duties include traveling to Korea with her family and sharing her experiences on social media. She will also actively promote Korea's family-friendly tourist attractions at various events arranged by KTO and other Korean government agencies. Then, she will appear in select campaigns and events of KTO, like familiarization tours and travel fairs.
KTO hopes that through the Francisco family's promotional content, Filipino families will gain more awareness and interest in Korea's tourist attractions and destinations.
Melai in South Korea
Prior to her appointment as KTO's ambassador, Melai has engaged in projects that promoted Korea's charm to Filipinos. For instance, the comedienne starred in the 2023 film Ma'am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul, and appeared at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards held in December at the Philippine Arena, where she gave a memorable speech after receiving her Best Actor award.
Melai, her husband Jason Francisco, and their daughters Mela and Stella are also fondly called the "Kamsamii Family" among their followers. The Francisco family has visited South Korea several times and are fans of Korean culture themselves.
