Melai Cantiveros' AAA 2023 Speech Is Such A Parent Moment!

In case you haven't seen it, Melai Cantiveros' acceptance speech at the Asia Artist Awards (AAA) 2023 is making the rounds on social media for all the right reasons.

Melai, who top-billed the movie 'Ma'am Chief,' was among the five (5) winners of the Best Actor award at the AAA, presented by Korean media outlet StarNews. This year's awarding ceremony was held at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, marking the first time since its launch in 2016.

The AAA was attended by artists in the fields of music, film, television and online content creation in Asia. Therefore, it's understandable that Melai got cold feet when she received the prestigious recognition.

"If someone question why I have award, don't worry, I question too," she said in her speech, which was filled with quotes Filipino parents can relate with.

"Because.. I just receive award, all of my life, from my mother and father everytime they're angry to me."

She continued, "But tonight, my heart is very, kuwan, the best."

I think it's because of God moves in mysterious ways."

She then thanked her producers and co-actors, saying, "I can't believe the food that they eat to choose me."

Melai entertained the entire stadium with her speech cum stand-up comedy, which is giving motherhood vibes.

"I'm very sorry to the Koreans I acted like this , I'm so overwhelmed to this kind of award."

As a proud parent, Melai sincerely offered her gratitude to her family, who came to support her.

"And to my husband, na andito siya ngayon, Jason Francisco, and Mela, and to baby Stella, nag-exam siya ngayon."

"Thank you Lord, thank you Lord, thank you Lord."

Her last line was witty yet meaningful, impressing many netizens as it was inspired by the Bible verse, Joshua 24:15."

"To my family, we will serve the Lord."

Netizens lauded Melai for this last line, saying, "The best part of her speech!"

In August, Melai, together with her eldest daughter Mela, received criticisms from netizens, after the latter called the former "mukhang unggoy" in a video.

Another video of Melai at the AAA is going viral, where she was interviewed by South Korean singer Jang Won-young of the K-pop group Ive. 

Her opening line was unforgettable, "Attending to AAA is a very honor, I feel like I'm the first honor, a valedictorian, attending AAA."

When asked which Asian artist she is looking forward to meeting, she mentioned that her idol is Kim Seon Ho from the Korean series Hometown Cha-cha-cha.

And as a mom who knows her kids to the core, "And then Newjeans, because my daughter loves Newjeans."

Among the other Filipino artists who won in the AAA 2023 were Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo (AAA Fabulous Award), and the boyband group SB19 (AAA Best Artist Award-Singer).
