'Family Is The Real Trophy' We Love NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic's Daddy Moment After Championship Win

His team won the NBA Championship, but she stole the show. Denver Nuggets' NBA Finals MVP Nikola Jokic and the star center enjoyed his team's win together with daughter 21-month-old Ognjena who tried very hard to keep dad's championship on her toddler-sized head. 

Jokic was awarded the Bill Russell Finals MVP Trophy and cheered on by his teammates and Ognjena, who fans found to be adorably oblivious to her dad's feat and much more interested in the confetti shower. Some photos of the awarding shows Ognjena sticking out her little hand, attempting to catch some of the paper confetti.

Another touching photo of the girl dad shows him planting a kiss on her cheek while she holds the Championship cap on her head. Social media users pointed out that Jokic seemed to have held his longer than he did his trophy. "You can tell sharing that moment with his family was the real trophy to him," wrote one user.

In a previous interview with Serbia Arena TV in January, Jokic said he is grateful for his wife Natalija's support."I think all of us who have a wife and kids should be happy with the persons we have beside us," he said. "When you have a normal life, it lifts you up and only helps you."

He and Natalija have been married since October 2020 but the couple has been together since their teenage years. Their daughter's name means 'fiery' in Serbian.

In the same interview, Jokic shared that it's difficult to be away from his family as he works because he misses his daughter's growth and development. "I play 100 games away, I'm not home for 100 days. "When I come home, Ognjena is different. Literally in five days, she changes you know."

No wonder he was more than happy to end a season, which means he can now go home to be with his family and not haveto worry about missing any of Ognjena's every day moments.

In a post-game interview posted by Bleacher Report, Jokic is asked if he's excited for the Championship parade and is seen asking, "When is parade?" Upon learning that it's still a few days away, he answers "No I need to go home." Sounds like he's just a wholesome dad who truly can't wait to be with his fam.
