Filipinos will now commemorate departed babies every 15th of October each year, Malacañang declared.
Signed October 2, Proclamation No. 700 sets National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day to "increase awareness and provide comprehensive support for affected families, including mental health services, community programs, and informed healthcare guidance."
The recent proclamation cancels Proclamation No. 586, which declared March 25 of every year as the "Day of the Unborn."
Accordingly, the directive tasked the Department of Health (DOH) to identify and lead the programs, activities, and projects aligned with the National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day.
Other government agencies and offices, government-owned corporations and state universities, also need to participate for its effective implementation, while all local government units (LGUs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), professional associations, and the private sector are encouraged to give support.

Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day
The Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is observed annually worldwide every 15th of October. Some don light blue and pink awareness ribbons to commemorate the day; traditionally, blue and pink represent baby boys and girls.
Any type of loss during or shortly after pregnancy counts, like early pregnancy loss, miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth, neo-natal death, and accidental, among others. No matter the loss, it's a day to remember the departed infants held dearly in our hearts.
