Have you ever wanted to go on weekend dates with your family, but transportation costs and concerns got in the way? The new Pamilya Pass 1+3 promo is here to help, perfect for families and groups of four.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has launched the Pamilya Pass 1+3, a promo that allows families and groups of four to ride trains for the price of one on Sundays. Yes, four people, one fare.
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. led the launch of this promo on June 1, taking the MRT-3 from Kamuning station to North Avenue station, along with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and their three children.
Pamilya Pass 1+3: What you need to know before you go
The Pamilya Pass 1+3 is part of President Marcos' initiatives to ease the burden of transportation costs for families while encouraging more time for bonding and recreation.
In an statement by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA), the President said, "Ang kultura ng Pilipino, 'pag Linggo, para sa pamilya 'yan. Para sa mga mahal sa buhay, para mabigyan natin ng pagkakataon ang ating mga kababayan na maramdaman naman nila ang Linggo."
Under this promo, families and friends traveling together in a group of four can ride all major train lines, including MRT-3 and Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines 1 and 2, for the price of a single fare every Sunday. The promo started on June 1, and will end on June 25, 2028.
Here's how it works:
- Only one member of the family or a group traveling together on the same trip must pay for one (1) single journey ticket (SJT) at the farthest fare and enter the turnstile.
- The rest of the family or companions will receive magnetic SJTs, which they will present to security and pass through the service gate.
- A fare table specific to the promo will be posted every Sunday.
- Pamilya Passes can be used multiple times, from the start to the end of train operations in MRT-3, but they are valid only on the day they were issued.
- No ID or proof of family relationship is required. Just show up as a group of four and ride together!
- Families must exit together at the same station. Upon exit, family members must drop their SJTs in the drop boxes at the service gate.
- Senior Citizens, students, and Persons with Disability may choose the 20% fare discount or the Pamilya Pass.
This initiative helps Filipino families save on transportation and opens the door for more Sunday adventures, whether visiting parks, museums, malls, or simply spending quality time together.
