  • Today, July 26, 2022, is a historic day for our first-ever Olympic Gold Medalist, Hidilyn Diaz.

Who would've thought that a year after winning the coveted Olympic gold medal, she will be tying the knot with her coach and longtime boyfriend Julius Naranjo?

Hidilyn posted on Instagram, "Today marks the first anniversary of our winning the Gold medal in the Olympics for the Philippines. And today also will be a memorable day for @imjulius and me, we will get married today."

Their wedding was held at the St. Ignatius Church at the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City.

Among the known entourage in Hidilyn's wedding are former Vice President Leni Robredo as principal sponsor, and actress Angel Locsin as one of the matrons of honor.

Rappler reports that their marriage also comes exactly two years before the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Hidilyn aims to qualify for her fifth straight Games appearance.

The renowned designer said he wanted to design Hidilyn's wedding dress. "Yung personality ni Hidilyn is very simple, so if I made it gold, it's not her personality already."

For Julius, Libiran made it a mesh of the traditions and patterns of Guam and the Philippines.

In Karen's vlog, the couple expressed their love for each other. Julius said, "Through thick and thin, I hope you will continue to love me as I continue to love you. I know I'm not perfect, but I will try to be the best partner, coach, and father to our kids one day."

To which Hidilyn replied, "We are not perfect as a couple. We've been through a lot. I just want to say, I love you and I believe in you. We will work together to achieve our dream together."

    Congratulations, Hidilyn and Julius!
