Plantation Bay Faces Investigation From Department Of TourismIf necessary, DOT will coordinate with the Department of Justice.by SmartParenting Staff .
Plantation Bay Resort & Spa is being investigated over its handling of the incident involving a mom and her child with special needs.
According to Reportr, there will be “proper administrative sanctions” against the resort if the inquiry warrants, Department of Tourism (DOT) Sec. Berna Romulo Puyat said in a statement.
Reportr also said DOT will “coordinate with the Department of Justice for proper action under the Disability Law, which the aggrieved party could pursue.”
Here is the story why Plantation Bay went viral.
Discriminating against persons with disabilities (PWD) is against the law. The Autism Society Philippines said parents with a child with special needs can pursue a “civil case in court or with the Commission on Human Rights for violations of the RA 7277, the Magna Carta for Persons with Disability.”
ASP advised to take note of names, places, events, dates, and times and take screenshots for proper documentation.
The hashtag #BoycottPlantationBay trended in the last two days after Plantation Bay’s harsh and offensive reply to the review a mom whose child has autism gave on Plantation on a travel website.
Plantation Bay did apologize eventually, but it further drew flak for its lack of contrition. ASP described the resort’s apology as “a significant first step. Sadly, the company has a long way to go.”
