PSA Opens National ID Registration For Children Under 1 Year Old

Ready to start your baby's official records? Now you can get their first ID! The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) has announced that children under one year old can now register for their National ID.

According to the PSA, as of February 5, 2025, a total of 92,016,069 Filipinos have successfully registered for the National ID system.

Children Below 1 Can Now Get Their First National ID

"We underscore that the parent or guardian must already be registered to the National ID system, as the child's National ID Number will be linked to their National ID Number," wrote PSA in its latest public advisory.

"If parents or guardians still need to register for the National ID, they may register together with their child in any PSA registration center and colocation sites."

The registered parent or guardian must be present with their baby for in-person registration and provide one of the following supporting documents:

• Certificate of Live Birth issued by the PSA or the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO).
• Report of Birth issued by the PSA or Philippine Foreign Service Post (PFSP).
• Certificate of Foundling issued by the PSA. 
• Certificate of Foundling or Certificate of Live Birth or Persons with No Known Parent/s issued by the PSA.
• Municipal Form No. 102 issued by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO).
• Philippine Passport or ePassport issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
• Any document showing the full name of the child, date and place of birth, the full name of the mother, and the full name of the father, if acknowledged.

What Happens During Registration?

For children under one year old, only basic demographic information and a front-facing photograph will be captured. Don't worry about fingerprints or an iris scan just yet because those won't be required until your child turns five. When that time comes, the complete biometric information will be collected, ensuring that your child's ID remains up-to-date.

• Mall-based Registration Centers
• Local Government Units (LGU-based Registration Centers)
