Rica Peralejo delightedly shared glimpses of her eldest son, Philip’s 10th birthday celebration on Instagram. The mom and Smart Parenting Editor-at-Large confessed at the start of her reel that Philip had never requested a party before, stating, “All his life, he has not asked for a birthday party. Not until this day…”
In her caption, she elaborated, “He wanted friends, our home, board games, Nerf wars, chit chat, and to be in his butas butas pajamas thru it all. In many ways older, but still also many ways still childlike. Ten before the teens. He’s only going to be more and more like him and less and less like us.”
And it seems Philip got all that he wished for.In Rica’s reel, Philip can be seen enjoying quality time with his friends, engrossed in board games, relishing delicious treats, and blowing out the candles on his birthday cake. Meanwhile, the parents chatted away over the yummy food.
The highlight? Rica seemingly set up the “instant party” with ease, and she generously shared the details of her chosen suppliers for fellow moms who might also be considering a similarly refreshing and instant party for their kids.

Rica’s “instant” party suppliers
Food
Rica enlisted the services of Happy Truck to cater to their guests. It’s a food truck that only requires a garage or similar space to park, where it can then dish out delectable treats such as Macao Imperial Milk Tea, Liang Crispy Rolls, and NYFD fries. As Rica says, it’s “Mercato vibes” right at home for your party.
Happy Truck offers two party packages to suit preferences and number of guests.
Cake
For Philip’s cake, Rica ordered a smash cake from Tsokoñata, which as Rica says is already a tradition for their family. She shared, “Kids look forward to hammering down a cake filled with chocolates and candies. I think we’d reach 50 and we still need this cake hahahaha!”
Tsokoñata, which according to its Instagram profile, is the “First chocolate piñata cake in the PH,” offers an array of options beyond its signature chocolate piñata cake. From chocolate drip cakes, character cakes, and tiramisus, their offerings cater to diverse tastes. Moreover, their piñata cakes come in various shapes and sizes, customizable with an assortment of goodies like gummies, chocolates, and imported sweets. Additional options such as personalized messages, cake truffles, and accompanying gifts or toys are also available.
Furniture and setup
For additional seating and setup, Rica relied on the generosity of friends and furnishings from Ikea. She also made a quick S&R grocery run to stock up on party essentials such as drinks, cups, and plates.
“Same love I have for you”
Aside from party details and suppliers, Rica also shared her sentiments on her eldest son turning 10.
“Ten years ago, this felt so new and fresh and forever,” Rica reminisced alongside images capturing the day she first laid eyes on Philip.
“I have seen you cry different cries but in all of them it is the same love I have for you.”
