Former actress Rica Peralejo has always been very hands-on in managing her home.
The 40-year-old celebrity mom only has two reliable reliable kasambahays, Kuya Nato and Renelda, to help her with household chores.
Even when the chores are ever becoming more challenging, what with two growing children around, Rica said she and her husband, Joseph Bonifacio, are happy with the setup.
It's for the best as it will train their kids Philip, 6, and Manu, 2, how to do things on their own.
In a vlog post last June 5, 2021, Saturday, Rica said, "We don't like to have a lot of staff. Hindi po namin gusto na marami kaming kasambahay.
"Not because ayaw namin ng kasambahay. But because there's a bigger reason for that.
"I have growing boys and in my experience, when you have a lot of staff, the kids in the home really don't learn their responsibilities because mas madaling umasa.
"I don't know, maybe some families are able to do that. Have a lot of staff, but then, you know, have their kids be responsible din at the same time.
"But for me, na-feel ko that the more I have staff, the more ako mismo umaasa sa kanila than me doing things myself.
"And then actually passing it on to my children na, 'O kayo din, you have responsibilities.'"
For Rica, the best way to teach kids how to be responsible and independent is for parents to be their best example.
She said, "Parang it's just really natural and normal na when no one else can do the job then someone would rise up to the position and to the job."
