Richard Gomez And Lucy Torres Share Probinsiya Life: ‘Simple Lang, Masaya Lang’Richard loves cooking for his family.by Dahl D. Bennett .
It’s public service on weekdays and taking on their hobbies on weekends for husband and wife and celebrities-turned-politicians Lucy Torres and Richard Gomez. Not a bad way to live especially if you have a comfortable provincial house that you can come home to everyday.
Lucy is currently the 4th district representative of Leyte, while Richard is the mayor of Ormoc City.
In a recent interview with PEP.ph, the couple shared that they each find comfort in doing what they love best during the weekends.
For Richard, it’s cooking and in fact he is turning out to be a popular weekend cook through his YouTube cooking show Goma At Home. “February of last year sinimulan ko iyong Goma At Home. Ayun, na-enhance na lang iyon simula nung nagkaroon ng pandemya,” Richard tells PEP.
To date, the actor has whipped up several Pinoy favorites such as Inihaw na Bangus, Creamy Beef Caldereta, Spicy Laing with Pork and Shrimps, Pinakbet, and Beef Tapa. He would give these dishes his own twist here and there and take inspiration from his first cooking mentor, his lola Lydia whom he grew up with.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
"Stress reliever talaga ang pagluluto. Ano lang, simple lang, masaya lang,” he says.
Occasionally, Richard would also feature his honey bee farm and vegetable and herb plants all located in the backyard of their Ormoc home. Lucy and their only child, Juliana, would sometimes assist him in the cooking.
According to Lucy, Richard as a cook is nothing new in the Gomez home. “He's been doing that for the longest time,” she says.
Lucy, for her part, admits that she has no talent in cooking but loves sewing and renovating some areas in the home like their room and animal house. The couple keeps chickens, bayawak, geese, turtles, dogs, and a cute pot-bellied baby pig named Hamlet, among others.
“Parang I was telling nga Richard when people complain na bored sila sa lockdown, I've never had the time to be bored because everything na hobbies ko before, I just sort of pick up again,” she reveals in the interview.CONTINUE READING BELOWRecommended Videos
Lucy likes doing beautiful table arrangements that showcases reused beer bottles as vases and greens that she can easily pluck from their backyard, like Kalamansi and Magsaysay leaves, which she turns into ornaments.
It seems there’s nothing that the couple could ask for as they live an idyllic provincial life. They are easily the poster couple for those who can balance political work and home life.ADVERTISEMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW
