Ruffa Gutierrez Heartbroken By Sister-In-Law Alexa's Passing

On July 28, Sunday, Ruffa Gutierrez shared the heartbreaking news of her sister-in-law, Alexandra Joelle Uichico Gutierrez’s passing, on Instagram. 

“I am still trying to process and accept that you are no longer with us,” Ruffa wrote. “It’s so hard… Words cannot express how heartbroken and shocked I am.

“I love you so much my beautiful, irreplaceable Alexa. You will forever be in my thoughts and in my heart. Until we cross paths again.”

Elvis Guttierez, Alexa’s husband, also posted a sweet photo of the two of them on his Instagram page.

In the comments, friends and supporters expressed their condolences and support. Anthony Pangilinan wrote, “May the God of peace and comfort be with you like you’ve never experienced Him before.” 

Lorin Bektas said, “The most beautiful love I have ever seen.”

“Sending my deepest condolences. Alexa was such a lovely and kind person,” Bela Padilla added.

Previously, Ruffa had asked for prayers for Alexa during her medical treatment. “She’s battling leukemia, just continue to pray for her,” she shared. “She’s actually struggling right now, I don’t want to talk about it because I might cry.”

“Elvis is also having a hard time because they’ve been in and out of the hospital since January so pagdasal po natin sila. We really need your prayers kasi the treatment she needs, wala dito sa Pilipinas, so I don’t know if she’s able to fly out or not so yun ang tinitingnan namin,” Ruffa added at the time.

Alexa’s battle with leukemia

Earlier this year, Ruffa asked her followers to help pray for Alexa, who had been diagnosed with leukemia. In a heartfelt message last January, she wrote, “Leukemia warrior. Alexa is a brave and beautiful soul, a devoted wife to Elvis, and a loving mother to Aria and Ezra, her two young daughters. In the face of this unforeseen adversity, she needs our prayers and support…

“Lex, you are such a positive, courageous, beautiful, and strong human being. God has a great plan for you. We love you and will walk with you through you every step of this journey. Continue to be in high spirits. You’re not alone,” she added.

At the same time, Alexa shared the beginning of her journey on her Instagram account, writing at the time, “HOPE IN THE DARK. In time, I will be sharing what I am going [through] not to make you feel heartbroken, sad, sorry for me. Some of you might think that I’m at my lowest but I understand God has a purpose for me. As I share my life with you progressively, I hope this encourages you to also see God is bigger than any of your problems and maybe write all that God has graced you with.”

Elvis and Alexa married in 2015 and have two children, Aria (10) and Ezra (7).
