It's not because of the labor pains and childbirth, struggles in breastfeeding, or sleepless nights. Ryza Cenon and partner Miguel Antonio Cruz plans to have only one child due to the increasing costs of having a baby.
"Nag-decide kami na isa lang. Naisip namin na parang habang tumatagal, siyempre pamahal nang pamahal ang tuition fee. Yun agad ang nasa isip namin, di ba?" the first-time mama shared during the virtual presscon of Bella Bandida last November 10, 2020
Tuition fees will continue to rise, so by the time Baby Night would start formal schooling, the cost will be higher. Ryza and Miguel are also looking at insurance costs.
It's a practical choice, too. Ryza revealed previously that she worked hard to give birth to her son via normal vaginal delivery because cesarean deliveries cost so much more.

The bottom line, however, the couple wants to be able to focus on their son. But if they're blessed with another one, it's okay.
"Kung may mangyari mang magkaka-baby kami uli, okay naman. Pero ang plan po talaga namin is one lang," Ryza says.
Ryza had always wanted to become a mom, but it was a challenge because she has an inverted uterus and irregular menstrual cycle. It was a joyous surprise for her and Miguel to be parents to their son, Night.
Because they want to focus on caring for and raising their son, they do not plan to tie the knot soon. Ryza admitted they've had conversations about it, and she is secure with their relationship even if they're not married.
