Semestral Break For Public Schools To Start On October 21, DepEd Announces
  • The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the semestral break for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students in public schools will start on Monday, October 21, 2019.

DepEd also announced the classes will resume on Monday, October 28, via a Twitter post on Tuesday, October 15.

According to DepEd Order No. 007, issued on April 22, 2019, the semestral break will be observed to evaluate teachers’ individual and collective performance and conduct School-based In-Service Training (INSET) activities.

INSET is a learning and development activity for teachers designed to improve and update their skills and competencies to then help enhance students’ performance. This activity may include seminars, conferences, workshops, and similar programs, the DepEd order reads.

INSET has been scheduled for October 21 to 25.
