Meet the Speakers of the Smart Parenting Convention 2019!

  • Smart Parenting Convention is only a few days away! Aside from exciting concessionaires and discounts on all kinds of parenting essentials, the event also promises to be full of talks meant to impart important information to all parents. From what to prepare for the birth of your baby to how to care for your marriage after having kids, Smart Parenting Convention will help you navigate through your parenting journey!

    There will be a registration sheet on the day for guests to sign up for the talks they want to join. Slots are given on a first-come-first-served basis, so make sure to sign up early. Learn more below about the experts who will speak at the Smart Parenting Convention and their topics.

    Pregnancy and Baby Block

    Childbirth Options and How to Prep for Delivery Day

    Dr. Maynila Domingo
    11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.

    Expectant parents will not want to miss this! Dr. Domingo is a board member of the Bayside Council of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a clinical associate professor at the University of the Philippines — Manila. She has attended a number of workshops and trainings abroad, such as the Asia Pacific Conference on Fetal Therapy in Indonesia; the Professional Training Course on Prevention of Pre-eclampsia in Hong Kong; and the UM-CUHK Certificate Course in Clinical Genetics and Genomics in Malaysia. 


    Postpartum Care

    Dr. Sybil Bravo
    1 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.

    It’s not only the baby who needs to be cared for after birth — you need special treatment, too, mom. During her talk, Dr. Bravo will talk about how you can best care for yourself postpartum. Dr. Bravo, who graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, is the vice president of the Philippine Infectious Disease Society in Obstetrics and Gynecology (PIDSOG) and a clinical associate professor at the University of the Philippines — Philippine General Hospital (PGH). She also serves as chief board member of the section of Ob-Gyn Infectious Diseases, Department of Ob-Gyn at PGH and as board member of the Asia-Oceania Research Organization in Genital Infection and Neoplasia (AOGIN), and as member of the Blood-Bourne Infectious Diseases Core Team.

    Baby Milestones and Red Flags to Watch Out For

    Dr. Ina Atutubo
    1:25 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

    Learn the vital baby milestones, and the warning signs if they are missing it with Dr. Atutubo’s talk. She is a graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas (UST), where she also did her residency. She is a diplomate of the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) and a member of the Community Pediatrics Society of the Philippines.

    Baby Sleep Basics

    Maria Campos Lopez

    A corporate lawyer by profession, Maria Campos Lopez’s journey towards being a sleep consultant began when her first child experienced sleep troubles. She believes sleep problems can be prevented by setting healthy sleeping habits early on and aims to educate herself further so she can help her future kids and other moms who may also be going through similar ordeals with their children.

    Dr. Dimalanta is one of the top behavioral and developmental pediatricians in Asia. He has initiated several progressive and influential initiatives on children’s education and holds prominent positions in the institutes of pediatrics and child health in St. Luke’s Medical Center Bonifacio Global City and Quezon City. He is part of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Society for Developmental Pediatrics and Philippine Pediatric Society and a member of a number of local and international medical and developmental foundations.

    Meanwhile, Teacher Tina Zamora is the directress of the Nest School for Whole Child Development. She is a well-known expert on family life, child development, and parenting issues and served as the resident education guru on the DZMM Radio Program “Kapamilya Konek.”

    Learn the Early Signs of Autism Spectrum Disorder

    Mona Magnu-Velez
    3:20 p.m. to 3:40 p.m.

    Mona Magnu-Velez is the national president of the Autism Society Philippines and has designed and engineered many different national advocacy initiatives, such as the ASP Autism Works economic empowerment program and the campaigns 1Pangako, ASP Angel Corps, and A-OK Philippines. Her eldest child Carl is an adult on the spectrum who finished a short course on architecture. Currently, Carl is actively participating in the community by serving as an officer in the ASP Self-Advocate Circle.

    Dr. Alignay, a registered psychologist and registered guidance counselor, is a highly sought-after speaker, training consultant, and award-winning author who specializes in family life, parenting and relationships, and well-being. In 2018, she obtained her Ph.D. in Family Studies from Miriam College. She also holds an M.A. in Family Psychology. She is an associate professor for graduate students at Miriam College.

    How to Create a Home First Aid Kit

    Patricia Cuasay Fruto
    4:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    Fruto, a graduate of University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) with a degree in Master of Science in Industrial Economics, has experience in the marketing industry and is a multi-awarded trade and brand marketer. Currently, she is a marketing leader for the consumer business group 3M Philippines.
