Survey: Filipinos Prefer Money Gifts This Valentine's Day

Have you thought about what to gift your lover on Valentine's Day? Or did your S.O. give you hints on what to get for them? If not, a recent survey might help you decide.

A Social Weather Survey (SWS) says the top Valentine's Day wishes were money, love, and flowers! The survey was conducted from December 8 to 11, 2023.

Interestingly, women expressed their desire to receive money and flowers through the survey. On the other hand, men opted to receive apparel and what they described as "any gift from the heart." But of course, above material things, everybody wished for love and companionship this Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day 2024: Filipinos Most Wanted Gift

Money is the top-rated material gift everyone wants to receive. People seem to prefer practicality over romance these days. But some remain true to the thought of Valentine's which is love and companionship: 11 percent of SWS respondents think love is enough as a present on Heart's Day.

You can never go wrong with giving flowers to your partners. It remains a classic gift, even if it's not Valentine's! 

Giving someone a piece of apparel never goes out of style as well. The SWS survey says most men prefer to receive clothes. It could also be something shiny and elegant like a watch or any kind of jewelry.

Valentine's Day 2024: Relationship Status Check

In 2011, the SWS garnered a record-high 59 percent rating from those who were happy with their love life. No survey rate has gone higher than those decade-old results yet.

In December 2023, SWS almost reached the 2011 high again with 58 percent of Filipinos sharing that they were happy and contented with their relationships. 23 percent answered that they could be happier with their love lives, while 19 percent were single.

Also, more married men were found to be happy with their married life! The SWS survey recorded that 76 percent of the married men they interviewed were "very happy" with their relationships. And the same goes for men already having a live-in setup with their partners.
