Here at SmartParenting.com.ph, we are always amazed at how creative parents can get when it comes to their little ones. From the time they are born, moms and dads are already cooking up all the ways they can capture every special moment with their child, including taking baby milestone photos to mark the day their baby turns a month older.
A monthly ‘themed’ shoot may seem like a lot of work, but the key is using whatever’s on hand to create a setup for your baby. That’s exactly what mom Heide Nakamura did for her monthly photoshoots with her two boys, Ryuji, 2, and Ritsu, 11 months. “Sometimes I use the actual object itself like cutlery and food. But I like using materials that I can form into other objects because I think that’s more creative,” she tells Smart Parenting via email.
Heide, who used to work as an assistant language teacher in English in a public school in Japan, decided to be a fulltime mom after taking her maternity leave for her firstborn, even if there are nursery facilities in the country that can care for babies as young as 4 to 5 months old (to help moms who wish to go back to work). “I wanted to enjoy motherhood and watch my sons every step of the way,” she shares.

Her husband, Ryota, helps her out with the photoshoots. “We work together and he enjoys it, too,” she shares. “Most of the time, I do the setup and he is the one in charge of taking the pictures. But there are times when he has better ideas so he gives suggestions as well.”
By sharing her photos, Heide wishes to inspire other moms like her to mark their baby’s milestones creatively — after all, the photoshoots need not be expensive! Here are the themes the mom of two has come up with:
