Republic Act 11650 is “an act instituting a policy of inclusion and services for learners with disabilities in support of inclusive education.” The same act mandates school districts, municipalities, and cities to have an Inclusive Learning Resource Center for learners with disabilities. Under this legislation, all special education learners are guaranteed free early and basic education in public schools to support the goal of making quality education accessible to everyone.
Choosing a special education facility for your special needs child can pose potential challenges because it will depend on the severity of the disability, interventions being offered and whether they are fit to your child’s needs, PWD-friendly facilities for those with physical or mobility impairment, or even the proximity of the school to one’s residence.

How to choose a SPED school for your child
Special education programs and interventions should be tailored to the specific needs of learners who may face challenges in learning, speech, communication, behavior, sensory, or physical development. When considering a SPED school for a child with special needs, it's vital to identify your child’s strengths, limitations, and interests. Consider visiting the school, checking the facilities, talking to school administrators and teachers, and inquiring about their specific programs, types of intervention, referrals, and its approach to special education.
