If you have a toddler or a preschooler, you probably know who Bluey is.
And if you're a mom who binge-watched Bluey with your kids, you can probably relate to Chilli's checklist:
- I'll have a little cry
- Pick myself Up
- Dust myself off
- Keep Going! (The show must go on!)
Bluey is a multi-awarded Australian animated series created by Joe Brumm who is believed to be inspired by his own experience of raising two daughters. Brumm previously worked on children's programs in the United Kingdom as a freelance animator and is thought to have also owned a blue heeler growing up.
The show “Bluey” has arguably risen to fame since it launched in October 2018 and since then beloved by both children and parents worldwide. Praise for Bluey is anchored on its positive representation of parenting in everyday moments, relatable depiction of family dynamics, and entertaining way of incorporating life’s lessons. It is the story of a six-year-old blue heeler puppy (Australian cattle dog) named Bluey, and her adventures with her ‘furmily’: Bingo (her sister), Bandit (her dad), and Chilli (her mom).
This heartwarming series is known for its humor, realistic family life including its complexities such as death, infertility, and miscarriage, and a consistent showcase of imaginative play. This series has a muted color palette and gentle pace in storytelling, which is ideal for a very young audience (but parents love them too!)
Now while we hope and await for the Heeler family to come back in season 4, we’ve rounded up a list of shows that you’d love, too, just like Bluey!
