‘Game Na Game’ Dad Wears Mermaid Costume For Daughter’s Birthday

Would Pinoy dads say yes to becoming a mermaid for a day— complete with crown, tail, and bra—to make their little girl smile? Well, this dad did!

Daddy Cris Fabricante, a pellet mill machine operator, did not hesitate to take on the challenge of becoming Ariel for a day when wife Ayra Nicole De Jesus asked him to do a special photoshoot with Baby Crishna Raya Fabricante.

Mommy Ayra couldn’t help but share the photos of Cris and baby Raya’s mermaid twinning moment in the Smart Parenting Village Facebook community.

The photoshoot was meant to celebrate baby Raya’s first birthday. Ayra shared that Cris actually enjoyed the photoshoot. “Yes, opo, nag-enjoy ang daddy niya!”, she confirms in her post.

#Girldad Challenge

The post earned so many likes and comments from fellow parents, and moms went ahead and tagged their husbands with a challenge to do the same. One mom who tagged her husband joked “Kung ‘di lang kayo ganito ni baby, salamat nalang sa lahat char.” 

One dad was so inspired by the photos that he “manifested” having a daughter, and then tagged his wife. “Gusto ko na magka-baby girl para maka shoot na kami ng ganito.”

Others can’t help but commend how sweet it is for Cris to do this for his daughter. “Sweet! Ang ganda! Bagay sa baby kong daddy’s girl din hahaha.”

Truly, dads will shamelessly do anything for their little princesses!

‘Game na game din po si baby!’

Ayra told Smart Parenting that this plan started when Cris shared a photo of a father and daughter wearing twinning or matching costumes.

“Tutal hindi naman po KJ ang daddy at mas gusto pa po ng daddy,” shares Ayra, so she did not hesitate to arrange for an under-the-sea-themed photoshoot.

On the day of the shoot, Baby Raya was as game as her daddy. “Game na game din po si baby. Wala pong tantrums ‘pag kasama po ang daddy niya. Alam 'nyo na po, daddy’s girl.”

Mommy Ayra even added that she didn’t want to interrupt the fun by getting in the pitcure, “Hindi na po ako sumama sa mermaid twinning nila, baka palayasin po ako ni baby hahaha,” she said. 

We would definitely love to see the complete family portrait next time!

Made-to-order costume, approved by son!

Ayra had to customize Cris’ mermaid costume (since it was hard to find an RTW that would fit him) while Baby Raya’s was bought online. She also shared that the outcome turned out to be this great because they prepared in advance.

Ayra’s eldest, three-year old Isaiah Sieghart, also approved of the photoshoot. Ayra reveals that even though Cris is not Isaiah’s biological father, they are very close. Cris is as playful with Isaiah as he is with Raya, Ayra shares.

Creating happiness anchors

Ayra also highlighted the importance of creating happiness anchors with kids despite the parents’ busy schedules. “Wala naman po yan sa kung sino ang laging kasama,” she explains since she stays with the children all day at home as a full time mom, and Cris would mostly be away for work. 

 “Three times a week lang po halos nag kikita [si Baby Raya and daddy], pero sobrang daddy’s girl po [ni Baby Raya]”. 

Cris proved that if there’s a will, there's definitely a way, and we can see how his wife and children adore this about him.
