Kasya Na Buong Pamilya! Family's DIY Backyard Pool Is #Goals

 The year-long community quarantine enabled families to take a good look at their homes and find parts to renovate or upgrade. One of their favorite home improvement projects? Building a DIY pool!

We’ve previously featured a lolo who transformed an old pig pen into a pool and a family who came up with a Bali-inspired oasis. And remember the family who built a pool in their backyard? Well, they just upgraded it again to an even bigger one so the whole family can enjoy it!

DIY backyard pool

On our parenting community, Smart Parenting Village, mom Rose Ann Bautista shared that she and her husband, Michael Bautista expanded the pool in November 2020. “Para sa buong pamilya na talaga!”

The original pool cost Php10,000 to build, and they spent the same amount for the upgrade, which includes labor and materials. “Dinoble namin ‘yung size and tinaasan ng isang patong ang mga hollow blocks,” Rose Ann tells SmartParenting.com.ph.

The pool was originally built after Michael’s parents, Lolo Manuel and Lola Elsie, saw our article and decided they wanted to have one of their own for their apos, Matthew and Timothy. Luckily, they had enough space in their family home in Tarlac.

 

 

“Tamang space lang sa likod ng bahay may mini resort na,” Rose Ann previously shared. “Enjoy na mga kids at buong pamilya!”

The pool is made of hollow blocks and cement. They did not install any filter for it since they only use the pool around 2-3 times a week. They use a water pump to fill the pool and then they drain it after 3 days.

“Sila [in-laws] din ang masipag na naglalagay ng tubig at nag-d-drain. Nagagamit po nila ang water sa mga halaman nila. Marami po kasi silang tanim and may bukid si Papa,” shares Rose Ann.

With the scorching heat and everyone staying indoors, a DIY pool can be a great alternative so the whole family can still have their summer experience. For the Bautistas, the DIY project is definitely sulit.

 

“Nagbababad ang mga bata [dahil] sa init,” Rose Ann says.
