If you are a parent and you are not yet a member of the Facebook group, Smart Parenting Village, you are missing out on a lot - especially the laughs!
Mommy Joselle Ona shared an anecdote with the group about her daughter Likha's encounter with an innocent delivery man. As a bright and vigilant child, Likha had the perfect question to ask to vet the situation: "Scammer ba po kayo?"
The mom of two and member of the Smart Parenting Mom Squad shared with the group that she was nursing her son Alab that's why her daughter had to get the door. "Tapos ‘yan sinabi niya sa nag deliver. Hindi niya pinagbuksan. Hahaha!"
"Sabi ko, “Anak, di natin dapat sinasabi yun.” Sumagot pa si bagets ng, “E kasi Mommy, mukha siyang scammer e. May kasama pa siyang nandon sa hagdanan.” Mayghad," she recounts.
She then asked the 90,000 parents in the community if they have had the similar moments with their kids.
"Yung gusto na ninyong magpalamon sa lupa levels," she added.

What to do when kids say the darndest things
It's important to handle the situation with care and thoughtfulness. Here are a few tips on what you can do:
1. Keep calm and carry on
Our kids, young and curious as they are, often speak their minds without intending to be offensive or hurtful. Take a deep breath and stay composed.
2. Respond positively or use humor
Instead of getting angry or dismissive, try to respond with a positive attitude. Encourage their curiosity and engage in a conversation to understand their perspective better. Sometimes, responding with humor can diffuse tension and lighten the situation. Share a funny anecdote or make a lighthearted remark to help redirect the conversation.
3. Provide guidance
If the child's comment or question is inappropriate or disrespectful, gently explain why it's not acceptable. Use age-appropriate language and help them understand the importance of kindness and respect.
4. Take advantage of teaching moments
If the child's comment is based on a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge, take the opportunity to provide information and educate them. Offer age-appropriate explanations and encourage them to ask questions.
5. Be a good role model
Children learn from observing adults, so make sure you respond to their comments in a respectful and understanding manner. Show them how to communicate effectively and kindly, so that they will follow suit.
