While we're waiting for the Baby Shark TV show, a seasonal version of the viral kids' tune — the "Baby Shark Halloween Song" has made its way online, and it's bound to take over every kid's mind this Halloween. That's right, moms and dads, the craze is far from over so brace yourself for an endless loop of this new version.

“Baby Shark Halloween” has some distinct differences from the original song. For one, it is slightly slower, and instead of the “doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo” hook, it goes for the more fitting “boo-boo-boo-boo-boo-boo-boo.” It was also created by YouTube channel Super Simple Songs, while the original was by the company Pinkfong.

The music video for “Baby Shark Halloween” features our favorite sharks dressed in their Halloween costumes: Mummy Shark, Ghost Shark, Pirate Shark, Cowboy Shark, and Princess Shark. They are happily trick-or-treating, but when it gets dark, they get chased by a looming, dark figure, which turns out to be – surprise! – Daddy Shark dressed in a colorful clown costume.

The “Baby Shark Halloween” song and video was actually released back in 2017, but now that Halloween is approaching, it is becoming viral once again. Since its release, the video has amassed more than 76 million views – not as large as the 3.4-billion view count of the original, but still impressive.

By now, some parents may be groaning at the possibility of hearing “Baby Shark boo-boo-boo-boo-boo-boo” over and over again at home, but here's some good news: The catchy tunes created by Super Simple Songs may help improve your tot's speech!

Speech therapist Laura Brown tells Romper, “I have used them in my special day programs, and have personally used them with my [three-year-old] son to encourage his language development. They are my [go-to] videos when I let him have screen time.”

In another Romper article, Rebecca Parlakian, senior director of programs at the early childhood development non-profit organization Zero to Three, says, “When you think about a toddler, they have limited language skills, are engaging in parallel play (play next to, but not with a peer), yet they have a huge desire to be independent. ‘Baby Shark’s repetition and strong pattern helps them learn and remember the (fairly simple) lyrics.” This is just one of the reasons why the song has become wildly popular among little kids.

Repetition is vital to your child's development. Repeating a word or activity can help hone skills. In every repetition, your little ones learn something new as they may modify an action a little bit just to see what difference it makes. He's practicing to master a word or action when he does repetition.

And repetition is not just for mastering words. Doing things over and over again also teaches actions and consequences, plus learning to anticipate what comes next.

So if you ever feel frustrated hearing "Baby Shark Halloween" on loop this season, keep this in mind: Not only does it make your child happy, it's also teaching him new skills! So, just embrace it, moms and dads!
