“Even when we have similar complaints, we might have different root causes,” kwento niya.

“As we assessed, we really have no clue which came first — him weaning or my supply going down? (Or just regulated? And gets impatient at the slow let down?) There is no telling. I am still in the process of finding answers,” sabi niya.

Ilan dito ay ang low milk production, fast let down, slow let down, oral restriction (tongue tie or needs therapy so baby can use the mouth and tongue properly), bottle preference, baby’s impatience with the breast, teething, baby is sick, at baby is in a developmental leap that he would rather move than eat (easily distracted).

We cannot just diagnose the problem as insufficient milk supply because there are deeper reasons behind it.”

Ibinahagi rin niya ang benefits ng direct nursing, “Although I have nothing against pumping and bottle feeding and formula feeing, I have to say direct nursing is the most ideal for both mom and baby.” Ilan sa mga sinabi niyang benefits ang immunity, craniofacial development that is optimal to not have sleep apnea, oral movement that helps them talk better, good eating habits, at bonding between mom and baby. “I stand by this as the best even if it comes to a point na I cannot do it. For whatever reason I cannot, though not giving up pa, I will always say direct nursing is the best. Although not always possible, still the best.”

“It does not mean you fail as a mom when you give expressed milk only or formula.”

Importante rin ang sinabi niyang, “What is a mom who can directly nurse but mentally destroyed because of the stress, right?” Ayon pa sa kanya, “I do understand, there are many reasons we cannot directly nurse and this is okay. It’s okay not to be ideal. Because in some cases, there are more important things.”

Medyo nadedepress na ako about it a week ago until I said: Why not formula?”

Hinangaan namin ang sinabi niyang ito: “What I like about it is that I admitted to myself na I want an ideal and if that ideal is not met, there are other options if it boils down to the one I like the least then it is still okay. Ayoko naman maloka in the process of making this successful.”

“I would have jumped at this option right away if not for some medical conditions that I have. I need to have myself cleared muna before offering for cross nursing.

“I have a village that is actually helping me feed this baby. I am so humbled,” sabi niya.
