A video of a mom breastfeeding her child while performing as a DJ on stage has gone viral on TikTok and Instagram.
With over 1 million views and counting, netizens have had mixed reactions to the video featuring Heather Christie, a musician and mother from California, USA.
In the video, Heather was DJing at an all-women music festival when her baby wanted to nurse. She graciously obliged and even propped her leg up on the table to support her child! The audience were seen cheering her on, and not shaming her. A netizen called it, "the perfect world."
TikTok user @grlswrl shared the video clip with the text, "Why can't the whole world be like this?"

Heather shared that her daughter has been to over 70 gigs since last year.
Despite progress, there is still stigma surrounding breastfeeding in public, and Heather's example is something that many mothers hope will become the norm.

In one of her posts, Heather explained that she feels the greatest sense of home and expression when she performs on stage. She mentioned that she has been performing and backpacking since she was two years old.
A year and a half ago, Heather experienced the tragic loss of her brother due to a heroin overdose. Two months later, she became a mother to her beautiful daughter, Naya. Heather released an album last month, which revolves around that period in her life.
In a separate post, Heather shared her thoughts on breastfeeding in public.
"Why does the most natural thing in the world feel so out of the norm still in public spaces? Why am I sometimes gawked at when I am feeding my baby?" —Heather Christie
"I didn’t realize how revolutionary breastfeeding was until I became a mother. Why does the most natural thing in the world feel so out of the norm still in public spaces? Why am I sometimes gawked at when I am feeding my baby? It’s still a part of our culture that doesn’t inherently trust the mother-child bond," she wrote.
She added, "Why must we sacrifice time with our families and kids to over-busy lives that demand more than we can give?"

Heather maintained, "Can you relate? Mamas, papas? Human beings? The breastfeeding revolution is a revolution to slow down, to reconnect with our sense of mothering ourselves, and to stop buying into the rat race [expletive] story. It’s an invitation to connect with our birthright of JOY through the simple act of connecting and co-regulating our nervous systems with those we love."
When asked how motherhood could be better supported and celebrated in the society, we love Heather's answer: "First and foremost, our society and communities would honor the timeline of mamas and the multiplicity of what we do in every day life. The family would be placed at the center of importance, and the artistic pulse of parents would be honored as co-existing within this messy, beautiful structure of family life."
Way to go, Heather!
