On Valentine's Day, 'Blippi' a.ka. Stevin John shared the lovely news that he is expecting a baby boy!
In case you haven't heard your kids spell: B-L-I-P-P-I, Stevin is a Youtuber who creates educational content for kids. His signature orange and blue look and catchy songs about trucks and dinosaurs are certified hit to his 14.9 million subscribers on Youtube.
Naturally, Stevin, 33, became popular with parents as well. In fact, when he announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend, Alyssa Ingham, last August 2021, moms from our online parenting community, Smart Parenting Village, were among those who greeted the content creator.
In October 2021, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. And on Valentine's Day 2022, they revealed the baby's gender, and boy, oh boy, it's a boy!
We can't wait to meet little Blippi soon!
Benefits of talking or singing to a baby inside the womb
In a recent video upload, Stevin showed how excited he is as a soon-to-be-dad, singing his famous 'excavator song' to his unborn baby. "Our Daily Blippi Concerts," wrote Stevin in the caption.
Giving more context on the clip, he included the text: "When your [sic] Blippi and you want your baby to recognize your voice..."
How lucky is this baby to get an exclusive concert with Blippi without having to click 'Skip Ads!' LOL!
As adorable as the video can be, many studies have suggested that talking or singing to a baby inside the womb can stimulate a baby's brain. According to a 2013 study, it means that a baby can develop familiarity with the things they get to listen to while they're still in their mom's womb.
"Any healthy activity that you enjoy or find relaxing while you are pregnant will have a positive effect on your baby. Further, if you sing along while you listen, your baby hears your voice and develops familiarity with what you sound like and with the melodies you enjoy," April Newton further explained in an article for Healthline.
Results are still debatable about up to what extent babies can learn while inside the womb. But still, spending that time talking or singing to your unborn baby can build up the bond between the child and the parent. Besides, researchers and experts have long acknowledged that a healthy prenatal environment has lasting effects on a baby's development, whether physical or psychological.
So, go ahead, Blippi keep singing to your baby while he's in the womb.
