Ellen Adarna has been doing a pretty great job in balancing work, endorsements, and being a hands-on mom to her son Elias. However, the celebrity mom will officially be taking a break from showbiz to focus on having a baby with her beau, Derek Ramsay.

“I made a promise to myself na tutok muna ako kay Elias until he is seven,” she shared when asked if she’s planning to get back to acting during her XMEAL product launch press con. “I want to be with my son. Kasi magkatabi kaming matulog. He sleeps with us. So hindi pa ako ready.”

The actress wants to focus on taking care of herself and her family, as she plans to have another baby in 2024 (a.k.a the Year of the Dragon) “for good luck.” Ellen has Chinese roots.

She even calculated that she would need to get pregnant by next year to give birth in time. “Next year na ako mabuntis […] One last na lang, and hopefully it’s a girl.”

Ellen and Derek tied the knot last November 11, 2021.

Tips on how to have a healthy pregnancy at 35

Ellen will be turning 35 next year. If she successfully gets pregnant then, good for her. Here are some steps for a healthy pregnancy according to obstetrician-gynecologist Salena Zanotti, MD of Cleveland Clinic.

1. Don't smoke

Whatever age you are, if you are trying to get pregnant, say no to smoking. Smoking among mothers during pregnancy is known to increase the risks of low birth weight, premature birth, birth defects, and even sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

2. Work towards a healthy weight

For Ellen who is very conscious about her body, this is easy to achieve. When you are trying to conceive, it's best to limit weight gain according to your OB-Gyne's recommendation.

3. Eat nutritious, well-balanced meals

This is not only for you but for the health of your developing baby.

4. Have a pre-conception check-up

If you are ready to have a baby at a certain time, it pays to visit your doctor before you completely throw birth control methods out the window. This is so your doctor can manage any medical conditions that you may have.

Dr. Zanotti says, "It's your health more than your age that determines the outcomes of your pregnancy."
