Heart Evangelista Reveals They Were Expecting A Baby But Lost It, 'I'm Sad, But I'm Not Complaining'

Heart Evangelista and her husband Senator Chiz Escudero and appeared on the talk show, Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, on March 14, 2024, Thursday.

It was a sensitive and emotional episode, with Heart revealing that they had once again lost their chance to get pregnant with their first child.

Tito Boy asked about what Heart said in their previous interview, saying that if they were going to be blessed with a baby, 'it should be now.'

"Actually, I said that in our interview because I was, technically, we were expecting a baby, actually. I wasn't pregnant, but I was expecting my only girl that I had left, eggs," the 39-year-old actress and fashion icon explained.

"So at that time I thought I was gonna make it, but she didn't. So that one was a bit hard for me because, my God, hirap."

"I cry because it took so hard for me to produce the egg, and so, it was hard for me to accept the fact that, you know, I gave her a name, I actually named her. I named her Sophia Heart."  —Heart Evangelista

She continued, "So I was really prepared for her, kasi I really thought I was going to have a baby at the time when I thought with everything that we went through, it was fine, it can happen, but it didn't."

Heart said that she's okay and she's not the type of person who would question her fate, "It's just sad because I thought I was gonna able to share what I do with my last girl. So it's a little hard. But I'm not questioning anything. That's why."

Chiz, 54, remained optimistic, saying, "I'm predisposed to always accept God's will, Boy. So, yun ang sabi ko sa kanya. If it's not now, if it's not this, may mas maganda pang nakaplano. Hintayin lang namin yun."

Heart clarified what made her emotional, and said that it's because of how difficult it was for her to produce the eggs. "It was hard for me to accept the fact that, you know, I gave her a name, I actually named her. I named her Sophia Heart. I was very excited to have her, but I'm blessed in so many other ways, how can I complain? I'm just sad because, of course I was excited, but I'm not complaining, I'm not the type to complain."

She confirmed that this happened at the time of their interview earlier last month, and they learned about it right before they had their renewal of vows last February 15.

Heart concluded, "Ganun talaga. You can't have it all. You can't."

"Malay mo I was meant to take care of a lot of people, charot," she teased.

Last year, Heart spoke about her in-vitro-fertilization (IVF) journey, saying, it was “one of the toughest, challenging times” of her life. This, and her miscarriage in 2018, made her doubt if she's ready to become a mother. That's why this year, she said she's prepared to be one, more than ever. 

Heart and Chiz have been married for nine years. Together, they have been raising Chiz's two children from a previous partner, and their rescued pets.

When Tito Boy tried to lighten the mood, the two shared how they would love each other unconditionally.

Heart asked Chiz, "When you are no longer with me, pag nasa 90 plus na ako ha, will you leave me a map so I can navigate my life?"

To which Chiz answered, "Definitely, mumultuhin kita."

Chiz then asked Heart, "Pag nawala ako, magpapakasal ka ba ulit?"

In a heartbeat, she answered, Never, TikTok, everybody, never."

"Subukan mo, hihilahin kita," Chiz joked.
