It's only been nine days since Angelica Panganiban and partner Gregg Homan officially entered parenthood. Little by little, she has been sharing their journey with their daughter Amila Sabine on Instagram.

From revealing Bean's cute pair of eyes on September 23, Angelica shared yesterday how she has been coping with postpartum blues.

Through the help of her support system, her husband Gregg, and her good friends who have been sending her care packages, she gave a shout-out to her 'Ate,' actress and mom of three, Judy Ann Santos.

The 35-year-old new mom said, "Isang araw, habang dinadama ko ang pag-iyak sa loob ng 3 hours, (Postpartum na kaya yun?), nag-suggest si Gregg na baka gusto ko makita si Ate, para na rin sa mental health ko. Agad-agad ko in-avail ang offer niya."

She then shared photos of Juday's visit together with Luna. "At eto na nga ang itsura ng pagtitipon ng mga pamilya namin.. (Luh, may pamilya na talaga me)."

What Judy Ann Santos is teaching us on how to support new moms

Judy Ann, in a separate post, shared her side of the visit, showering Angelica with kind words and love that every new mom deserves to hear and receive. If you know a new mom, take cues from Juday on how you can make her feel supported.

1. New moms need to feel that they are seen and heard

Remember that a first-time parent is going through a new journey. To have someone to listen to their discoveries and struggles would mean the world to them.

Juday told Angge, and this also applies to new moms:

"Ang sarap mong panoorin, pagmasdan at pakinggan dahil alam kong ito talaga ang matagal mong hinintay at ipinagdasal. Deserve na deserve mo dahil handang-handa ka na. Binuo ka at pinagtibay ng Panginoon dahil may tamang tao talaga na ibibigay sayo. Yung aalagaan ka at mamahalin ka ng buong-buo."

Send them a message asking how things are going, and how you can help. You can ask how the baby is, but don't forget to ask about the mom too.

2. New moms need to feel that they did not lose their old selves

It's normal for a new mom to feel overwhelmed with the new chores brought about by having a newborn. They might feel that they are losing their identity in the process. Juday assures Angge that in case she and Gregg would need some me-time, they can take care of Bean.

She said, "Napakasaya ko para sayo sweetheart. Alam na ah? Pag gusto ninyo mag-date, bukas na bukas ang bahay namin para kay Bean. Ay kasama pala kayo."

In between feeding and changing diapers, new moms would appreciate a few minutes or an hour to recharge and care for themselves too.

3. New moms need to feel that they are not alone

May it be through sending elaborate care packages or even a short message, letting a new mom know that she is not alone could mean the world.
