Picture this: my husband and I were first-time parents in 2019, living in a studio-type condo unit in Quezon City. Then, an ad for a stroller that transforms into a car seat in seconds appeared on my Instagram feed.

The Doona is durable and lightweight, made with premium materials. It was designed by Yoav Mazar, a father who understands every parent's struggle with the daily transition between a car seat and a stroller.
According to its website, Doona is the only product globally to have successfully passed rigorous testing and certification under three different baby product standards – Car Seats, Strollers, and Reclined Cradles. Moreover, Doona has obtained certification under these three standards in both Europe and the US.
Tip: If you don't want to buy it, don't try using it because it will make you want to buy it. I swear.
Usability
Hands down, the Doona is very easy to carry, set up, set down, and as my husband said, it's very smooth to maneuver. I remember going to a wedding when I was five months postpartum, riding in a taxi with only my baby, and I had a hassle-free experience.
We used our Doona until our baby was two years old. We loved that it has a head support for newborns that you can remove as she grows into a toddler.
Value for Money
A good car seat with quality and functionality similar to the Doona (from newborn to 2 years old) would cost you around P15,000. A lightweight stroller, on the other hand, would cost you around P9,000 to P15,000. The Doona is definitely worth the price, plus, you gain more space in your trunk and in your house with this hardworking baby gear. When our daughter outgrew her Doona, we bought her a toddler car seat, which retails at around P5,000-10,000.

Flexibility
What I also love about the Doona is that there are a lot of available accessories that you can purchase to enhance its functionality. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we celebrated our baby's first birthday and baptism, so we had to transport her from our condo to a nearby church safely. To protect her from viruses and rain because it was in July, we bought a Rain Cover, which costs around P1,999. You can also purchase an Essentials Bag, Insect Net, Sunshade Extension, and more.
Downside
I cannot find anything negative to say about the Doona except that the stroller is permanently rear-facing. This means that when you use it outdoors when your child is already two, they can only see you and not the view. But I personally like it because it prioritizes the safety of my child and, of course, my peace of mind.
The verdict
All in all, if you need to save space and skip the hassle of transitioning from a car seat to a stroller, I highly recommend getting a Doona for your baby. It's an investment that you can hand down to your other kids or relatives. As of writing, our Doona sits in my daughter's playroom, patiently waiting for its next user.
