Fun Kahit Sa Bahay Lang! Mom Transforms House Into Indoor Playground For Son's Birthday

Social distancing and stay-at-home orders due to COVID-19 have been limiting our options when it comes to celebrating special occasions like birthdays. But many parents are reinventing party planning to make sure their little one's birthday bash at home will be as special as possible.

One of them is Mommy Kristyl Rodriguez, who found a way to bring the playground experience inside the comforts of their home for her son's 7th birthday party. The mom of two shared how she did it on our Facebook group, Smart Parenting Village.

At-home birthday party idea: renting indoor playground

If you're wondering how to make your child's special day still filled with fun and exciting activities while staying indoors, like Kristyl, you might want to consider renting a private playground.

"I was thinking about what surprise I can give to my son, Damien, on his 7th birthday since we can’t celebrate with others," says the 27-year-old mom. "Our initial plan was to celebrate at kidzoona with his classmates and friends. But because of the pandemic, we had to cancel it."

Browsing for at-home party ideas online, she came across a post about playground rentals. At first, they were looking for inflatable playground rentals since the birthday boy loves to swim. However, the sizes of the pool don’t fit in their garage, so she looked for other playground rentals.

This is when she saw Apollo & Alonzo Mobile Playground's advertisement on Facebook Marketplace. "Surprisingly, the [rental package] prices are all affordable!" shares the mom. "They have an all-in package (my package) and individual prices."

The package Kristyl chose cost her Php7,200 for a 2-day rental. This covered the delivery fee and the whole playground set-up including, the ball pit area, a mini slide, a climber, and the mini roller coaster.

They also have a pretend play area with kitchen and market place toy set. "This is Damien’s first time. That’s why he was very surprised. He can’t imagine na we’re turning our little house into a playground that he loves."

Speaking to SmartParenting.com.ph, Kristyl was happy with the result of her party planning. She shared, "The party went well! Our surprise was a success and I felt that all of our efforts paid off."

She adds, "The kids were happy. Super happy! I know they’ll never forget this birthday party, especially Damien. He was very emotional after we took the blindfold off, I was finally able to say that I made my son happy."

Damien was so elated with his indoor playground party that he would 10 out of 10 recommend it for his brother's birthday too! "He also told me to do this again on his little brother’s birthday in January. He enjoyed it so much!"
