Father's Day Cake Ideas For Dads Na Walang Hilig Sa Cake

Unlike Mother's Day, Father's Day celebrations tend to be more low-key. If you ask your husband or dad what they want to receive on this special day in June, chances are they'll respond with, "Kahit ano."

Try asking what cake they want to receive on Father's Day, and trust me, you'll get this one: "Kung meron, eh di thank you. Kung wala, okay lang din!" 

But as moms and wives, we can't help but celebrate this day and mark it with good food and fun memories. A Father's Day cake is one that can complete the celebration.

Smart Parenting asked dads from its Smart Parenting Squad about their preferred cakes for Father's Day. Here are their recommendations.

1. Something strong and not too sweet

For our dads and husbands who carry the weight of being the family's primary providers, a cake that has strong flavors like coffee, mocha, and cappucino is a good idea, according to Daddy Joma Vicencio.

Try the Mary Grace Affogato Cake, as recommended by Daddy Dreus Cosio.

Or consider Goldilocks' Coffee Layered Crunch Cake.

2. Their classic, favorite cake

Sticking to their all-time favorite cake through the years is also a good bet. For Daddy Edroy Lim, his favorite is Black Forest, and he would be happy to receive one on Father's Day. He adds, "Pero even if wala, okay lang. What I want lang is to spend time with my family, relax, and feel appreciated."

3. Chocolate cake, so the kids can enjoy it too

Daddy Jing Ruiz is one selfless dad, saying it's okay whether he gets a cake or not on Father's Day. But if ever, he wants to receive a chocolate cake, "para sa mga bagets din." 

Leonisa's Kitchen is popular for its 8-layer chocolate mousse cakes, made with layers of milk, dark and white Belgian chocolate mousse, moist chocolate sponge and crunchy crepe, and topped with chocolate pearls. This Father's Day, it offers dad-themed cakes that you can pre-order through its Facebook page.

4. Ube cake

For Daddy JPaul Hernandez, a light and fluffy ube chiffon cake would be nice, as it isn't too sweet and pairs well with a cup of coffee for merienda.

5. 'Kung anong bigay ni Misis' cake

For Daddy Jonathan Uy, he would also love to receive anything that is not too sweet, like dark chocolate cakes. He also prefers moist or frozen cakes. However, he emphasizes that whatever his wife gives him will make his day, "Siyempre kung ano ang binigay ni misis yun na ang cake of the day ko." Good answer!

6. Caramel cakes

Daddy Boom Domingo is very brand-specific about the Father's Day cake he wants. He would love one from Estrel's or Pasteleria Costa Brava, both famous for caramel cakes.

Daddy Joma Vicencio also reiterates that he doesn't want anything fancy on Father's Day, a minimalist cake will do. He hopes the design isn't too elaborate.
