It has been a month since the enhanced community quarantine was put in place. While we’re doing our part in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and flattening the curve, being confined to our homes can easily take a toll on our mental health.
According to Dr. Karina Therese Fernandez, executive director of Ateneo Bulatao Center, feelings of anxiety and stress, which are related to the uncertainty of the pandemic, are the biggest issues during this time. Experts have also noted that many people will feel more isolated and depressed in the wake of the pandemic. (You might be experiencing panic without knowing it. Read the signs here.)
List of centers offering free counseling online
If you’re feeling mentally and emotionally drained, the Psychological Association of the Philippines has compiled a list of centers offering free online psychological services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many of these organizations perform “telemental health” consultations through video or phone calls. The PAP notes however, that they have no information “about the quality or extent of the services being provided by these centers.”
