The bedroom is where we retire at the end of the day, so we take extra care to keep it clean and tidy. But have you ever wished it was cozier and more relaxing? If you’ve been imagining a renovation for some time now, you can take inspiration from this stunning bedroom makeover that one teacher did during quarantine.
Nelo Coloma, a teacher and part-time photographer from Nueva Ecija, recently went viral after sharing photos of his DIY room makeover on social media. He shares that he used to be content with his simple bedroom, but after spending time inside hotel rooms whenever he photographs clients, he realized he could have a more comfortable personal space.
Thanks to the community quarantine, Nelo was able to finish his dream room. At first, he wanted to do it all by himself, but he realized he needed additional people to help out. The transformation took two weeks — with four days of painting and drying the bedroom.
His budget? Php50,000 including the furnishing and appliances. “Bumili ako ng TV, couch, life-sized mirror, table,” Nelo says in an interview with Summit Media, adding that most of the items were purchased online.
“Sa online shops ang daming puwedeng bilhin na safe kasi hindi mo na kailangan pumunta ng market at the same time mura pa. Kaya siguro naka-Php50,000 lang ako dahil talagang nag-outsource ako ng mga gamit sa iba-ibang online shops,” he shares.
Nelo is proud of his haven and encourages other people to renovate their rooms into a more restful space. “Sobrang ang sarap magpahinga,” he says. “Deserve natin ‘yung ganitong klaseng room na very comfortable, masarap matulog, malamig, masarap manood ng movies.”
