Jennylyn, Dennis On Building Their Mountain Hideaway Using Containers: 'Mas Mahirap Pala'

Back in December 2021, Jennylyn Mercado and Dennis Trillo gave a sneak peek of what they called a "mountain hideaway" that they were building for their growing family using shipping containers (read here).

At that time, the couple had just gotten married (read here) and are awaiting the arrival of their first child together. They welcomed a baby girl on April 25, 2022, and named her Dylan Jayde (read here), completing their blended family that also include Jennylyn's son Jazz and Dennis's son Calix.

Fast-forward to February 2023: Jennylyn and Dennis gave a tour of their newly completed mountain hideaway on their vlog. The family rest house is located in the upland town of Tanay in Rizal province. It offers a 360-degree view of Tanay, as well as a majestic sight of the nearby Laguna Bay.

"Etong mountain hideaway namin, magkakahiwalay s’ya," Jennylyn said, referring to the property that's made up of several structures. "Kung mapapansin n’yo, gawa s’ya sa container...Kasi naisip namin na mas madaling gawin. Ilalagay na lang s’ya."

Dennis added that they also got the inspiration from the tiny house movement as featured in different YouTube channels. He then pointed out, "Akala namin mas madali. Mas mahirap pala. Kailangan i-transport dito sa malayong lugar."

He also pointed out that they made sure the proper insulation of the containers, that's why "malamig o mainit, kumportable."

Inside the compound, there are four structures: the main house, the guest house, the greenhouse, and the staff house.
